Prediction of the volumetric and plunger work efficiency of sucker rod pumps with gas interference has been improved by consideration of actual gas behavior. In addition to gas compressibility and gas-liquid gravity separation, nonequilibrium gas solubility under pumping conditions has been experimentally quantified. A new equation for the volumetric efficiency has been derived, and a computer program for plunger work efficiency has been generated. The present ball unseating concept has been experiment ally proven inaccurate and fu rther studies are recommended.
