An experimental study of the 1-inch McMurry JR-FOP fluid operated gas-lift valve was performed to complete the existing theory on dynamic flow performance of gas-lift valves.
Dynamic flow tests were run for the three different port sizes available for this valve (8, 12 and 16 64ths of an inch}, using test rack closing pressures ranging from 100 to 700 psig and a spring acting as the closing element.
Two completely different flow regimes were observed during the dynamic testing of this fluid operated gas-lift valve, the orifice flow regime and the throttling flow regime.
Previous TUALP dynamic flow performance models were evaluated with the data acquired from the experimental tests. A new model was developed to describe the dynamic flow performance of this valve under any operational conditions.
